In SQL Server 2000 Reporting Services the reports can be exported to other data formats such as Excel. This feature is available with a simple configuration as HTML link call on Reporting Services to export the data to Excel for other users purpose. Sometimes the user might find it difficult to achieve consistency between a Reporting Services report and the exported Excel report.
The DBA might suspect the SQL Server cache as a root cause of this problem and might take action to clear the cache every time the Reporting Services report is exported to Excel source. Well, this is not the case and on a Production SQL Server it is not recommended to clear the cache on a regular basis. In order to resolve the report the HTML source link should contain a &rs:ClearSession=True condition in order to refresh the RS session every time the Excel calls for a refresh of report.
